Why seek trauma-sensitive support and therapy?

I specialize in supporting adults with the symptoms of early childhood trauma (e.g. attachment and developmental trauma).

The impact of early trauma is often diffuse, but still has a major impact on everyday life. Many people who have experienced chronic stress in their first years of life show a constantly highly aroused nervous system also later in life. This can manifest as an exhausting lifestyle and working style which can hardly be changed by willpower alone.

  • Perhaps you know the feeling of being different from everyone else – and in your mind, everyone else can do exactly what you long for.
  • You are not in touch with yourself and your body – and therefore you oftentimes don´t know how you feel and what you need.
  • You distract yourself from a diffuse state of unease – with series, scrolling, sweets or other addictive behaviours.
  • Loneliness is a constant background noise in your life, even when you are in the company of well-meaning people.
  • You are troubled by fear of loss and your sensor of danger is constantly activated.
  • You find it difficult to have fulfilling relationships or keep getting involved with the “wrong” people.
  • Unfulfilled longing often makes you daydream, but you can’t shape your reality accordingly.
  • You tend to please others and put yourself on the side.
  • You have difficulty in setting clear boundaries and standing up for yourself and your needs.

Maybe you have already read a number of books, taken self-help courses, have been or are undergoing counseling or psychotherapy. This may have brought you a good deal further, but now your self-development process has stagnated. And you would like a new impulse to get it into flow again.

Benefits and limits of online-sessions

If you live abroad or in a remote region, online sessions are a viable option.

Trauma-sensitive online-support addresses people who want to deeply explore their issues but are not in a highly acute crisis.

For online support and online therapy, you should generally be able to regulate yourself to a certain degree. If you have a basic level of stability, online sessions can provide deeply moving and transformative experiences.

However, online sessions do not replace trauma therapy in case of acute crises or serious psychological imbalances. In these cases, personal contact is necessary.

If you are currently in psychotherapy, please clarify with your therapist whether additional trauma-sensitive work is an appropriate option.

Body wisdom, nervous system and attachment patterns

Trauma-sensitive support includes the body and the regulation of the nervous system into the process.

To help you find your way out of the experience of chronic stress, I can support you in establishing more internal stability — resiliency in the body. As a result, it will be easier for you to feel emotions without being overwhelmed by them. This will also help you to cope more easily with external challenges.

Other important points are your attachment patterns. Together, we will explore which attachment behaviors you learned in your early years, which ones are still useful for you today — and which ones can be developed further.

What can you learn?

The most important skill for your inner growth process – and this applies in general – is presence. You learn to precisely perceive and explore the interplay of your feelings, thoughts and behavioral impulses without getting involved.

This will give you more flexibility to let go of old patterns and act appropriately to the current situation instead of reacting in autopilot mode. This makes it possible, for example, to focus more inwards and feel your needs that lie beyond your previous habits.

The answer to your questions always lies within yourself, and I will guide you in listening inwards.

When your nervous system is more regulated and you feel calmer, it will be easier for you to explore new things. Perhaps it’s about taking better care of yourself while you attend to others or allowing yourself more phases for leisure and regeneration.

The same applies here as everywhere else: Change comes with experience. The re-tuning of your nervous system takes place with every repetition.

The foundation for the new experiences is laid in the sessions. These behavioral patterns are then established in everyday life through practice and repetition.

How do I support you?

My approach is based on appreciation, mindfulness and resource orientation. I believe that everything you need for your development already lies within you, and I support you in finding access to your inner strength.

Due to many years of experience as a body and trauma therapist and also through my personal healing journey, I have developed a fine sense of which (inner and outer) attitudes conceal personality traits and therefore also certain needs.

Using your body awareness, I support you in sensing what is going on inside you – and staying present with it. This allows you to get in touch with your inner strength, gain clarity and restore inner order. This also regulates your nervous system.

In my work, I combine Somatic Experiencing and other body and attachment-oriented methods with systemic approaches such as IFS (Inner Family System) and constellation work. I also add elements from craniosacral (self-)treatment.

Potential benefits

The impulses from trauma-sensitive support and therapy can bring about change in many different ways:

  • You get a better sense of your own needs and emotions.
  • You learn to create your life with more self-confidence.
  • You will face difficult situations with more resilience and serenity.
  • Out of your inner strength and wisdom you develop mental clarity and focus.
  • You don’t make your decisions reactively, but – with more self-guidance – from your inner core.
  • You feel your boundaries and can express them more clearly.
  • You become more authentic in your communication and can take a stand for yourself.
  • This may also improve your relationships with other people.

The more you are in touch with your body and your needs, the more you move from loneliness to a feeling of connection – with yourself and with the world. Your relationships with other people can also become deeper and more intimate then.

Reimbursement (therapy on-site only)

My office is a private practice.
My fee is payable in full regardless of any possible reimbursement.

Unfortunately, billing via statutory health insurance is not possible.

Private (German) health insurances and private supplementary insurances often reimburse the services of the nonmedical health practitioner in full or in part. Please check with your health insurance provider in advance.

Reimbursement depends on the contract and is possible if psychotherapy by nonmedical health practitioners is also insured. In this case, I will create an invoice in accordance with the scale of fees for nonmedical health practitioners (GebüH), which you can submit to your insurance company.

Self-payers can deduct the fee as an extraordinary expense in their income tax return. You will receive an invoice without a diagnosis.

FAQ

Frequency and number of sessions

It can vary greatly and depends on many factors, how many sessions are useful and at how frequent they should be. Therefore, we adapt the frequency of the sessions according to your individual process.

As it is about changing early behavioral patterns, this is usually a longer process. After all, habits that have taken a long time to solidify need time, patience and new experiences to change.

Welcome, I am Anya Lange

Trauma therapist and expert in somatic resiliency. For more than 20 years, I have been supporting people who have lost their connection to themselves due to burnout, stress and trauma. I help them to reconnect with their needs and inner strength through their bodies and to create a true, self-determined life harmonizing with themselves and their values.

I consider body and mind as a unit and therefore always in interaction. I also perceive people in relation to their environment and not in isolation. For me, the quality of inner and outer relationships determines how connected – and supported – we feel.
The following approaches have proven particularly effective for me in supporting people with early trauma:

  • Body-oriented therapy modalities for the treatment of shock, attachment and developmental trauma (Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Attachment, NARM, craniosacral work)
  • Systemic approaches (Internal Family Systems, constellation work)
  • Current findings from neuroscience
  • Due to over 13 years years of therapeutic work in a psychosomatic clinic, I was able to gain deep insights into interdisciplinary work and gather a wealth of experience.
  • Mindfulness and elements of yoga are also incorporated into my work.
  • Sometimes a pinch of humor is required.
  • As an Anglophile, I also read and learn in English and therefore give sessions in German and English.

I deeply believe that it is possible for everyone to live a truthful life in alignment with their own needs. And the more people do this, the more things change on a larger scale – in relationships, families, communities and even societies.

When people can sense themselves and their needs, they can align heart, brain and hand and create a life that is both self-determined and attuned. I would like to contribute to this by sharing my knowledge of embodied resiliency and trauma healing.
